If you've interacted with SCGJA in the past 20+ years, you've probably had the pleasure of meeting Marsha Caranci and/or Karen Jahr. These two powerhouses have dedicated innumerable hours to the advancement of the Shasta County Civil Grand Jury. They've worked tirelessly running meetings, coordinating training, recruiting new potential jurors, and fostering a good working relationship between Shasta County's only civil watchdog and the Superior Court. Marsha actually helped found SCGJA in 2002, paving the way for the Shasta County Civil Grand Jury to be properly supported so they can do their jobs, year after year. Karen, a former County Counsel for Shasta County herself, has been integral in liaising with the Superior Court as well as providing an important legal perspective on grand jury duties.
This year, both Karen and Marsha have decided to step back from SCGJA by stepping down from their Board of Directors positions. While SCGJA is deeply saddened to be losing two of our most active Directors, we are eternally grateful for all their years of service to SCGJA. Our chapter might not even exist without these rock stars! As a humble "thank you", we presented both outstanding women with personalized leather portfolios.

What a wonderful tribute to the people who make a difference! It’s inspiring to see dedication recognized in such a meaningful way. Speaking of milestones, even trends like the bitcoin price remind us how value shifts over time. Truly, celebrating our cornerstones keeps communities strong and motivated.
